چکیده
European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI) accredited tissue typing laboratories in Istanbul Medical Faculty, Department of Medical Biology has been accepted as the reference laboratory for the ‘External Quality Control Tests’ program among HLA laboratories in Turkey by the permission of Turkish Ministry of Health since 2004. The test systems performed for the determination of essential parameters affecting the survival of the organ transplanted and the patient have been evaluated in this program for three rounds. Round I (RI) was performed for HLA-A,B. Round II (RII) was performed for HLA-DR and panel reactive antibody (PRA) class I. We evaluated results for three rounds that include six sections. Number of total and discrepant results were 308, 210, 78, 78, 60, 72 and 25, 12, 1, 9, 4, 4 for each of sections which include HLA-A, B, HLA-DR, PRA Class I, PRA Class I, PRA Class II, cross-match (XM) respectively. Also discrepancy percentages were 8.2, 5.8, 1.3, 11.6, 6.7, 5.6, respectively. Most frequent undetected or erroneous antigens and alleles according to the consensus results were HLA-A33, B35, B51, B58 and HLA-DRB1*11 and 13, respectively. Standardization of the laboratories performing HLA typing, XM and PRA tests are at crucial importance for a successful transplantation as the results from these labs are highly informative for the clinician.

High-Resolution HLA-A Typing in Normal Iranian Population
Background: Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) gene is a highly polymorphic region. HLA typing is required to match patients and donors for transplantation; therefore, development of HLA registries is necessary for finding HLA match donors. HLA system is highly informative, and numerous studies have been conducted on HLA allele distribution in different populations. Methods: In this study,...
متن کاملAssociation between HLA-DQB1*03:01 and Bullous Pemphigoid in Iranian Patients
Background: A common Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) class II allele, DQβ1*03:01, seems to be associated with Bullous pemphigoid (BP) in Caucasians whereas previous studies in other ethnic groups showed other HLA class II alleles as genetic predisposing factors for BP. Objective: To investigate the association of HLA class II alleles and haplotypes with BP in Iranian population. Methods: Fifty pa...
متن کاملHLA-B5 antigen in Iranian patients with Behcet’s disease: A case-control study
Background: The strong association of Behcet’s disease with HLA-B5 antigen has been observed in several ethnic groups from Middle East to Far East. Objective: To evaluate the frequency and association of HLA-B5 and also likelihood ratio of involvement in Behcet’s disease in a group of Iranian patients. Patients and Methods: HLA-B5 antigen typing was performed by serologic method in 56 patients ...

Background: The outcome of acute hepatitis B infection may be influenced by host genetic factors like human leukocyte antigen (HLA). To investigate the association between the HLA-DRB, DQA1 and DQB1 alleles and chronic hepatitis B infection, 50 patients with chronic hepatitis B (based on 6 months positive of HBsAg and HBc antibody and HBeAg and antibody by serological test), were selected from ...

The Human Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) plays a crucial role in transplantation, transfusion, paternity test and assessment of susceptibility to some diseases associated with HLA-B27. Three of the most fashionable methods for determination of HLA antigens in clinical and research laboratories are microlymphocytotoxicity (MLCT), flowcytometry and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). T...
